Sheila graduated in 2013 from Stanbridge University in Irvine, CA with a degree in occupational science. Since then, she has worked as a certified/licensed occupational therapy assistant. She has experience treating children in early intervention, private clinics and school based settings. She has additional training and education in sensory integration, neurodevelopmental treatment (NDT) and oral motor/feeding therapy. Sheila is a certified infant massage teacher (CIMT) and certified pediatric massage therapist (CPMT).
Sheila's passion for working with children with different needs and abilities started early in her childhood. She had a special bond with her Aunt Jackie who had Down syndrome. Growing up, Sheila's parents cared for medically fragile infants/children in the foster care system so she had the opportunity to observe various professionals including; occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech pathologists working with these children. She was drawn to occupational therapy because of the flexibility and creativity that accompanies the treatment process.
When not working, Sheila enjoys spending time with her family and friends exploring the area by going for drives, short hikes and trying new restaurants. She also enjoys taking her pup Diesel to the dog park.
