Pediatric Occupational Therapy helps children develop the skills and abilities they need to participate in all aspects of life. The word occupation can be defined as anything that occupies your time. Play is a child's first occupation as it is meaningful and purposeful to them and vital in their growth and development. A child might be referred for occupational therapy services if he/she is showing signs of developmental delay in one or more of the following areas; physical, social-emotional or cognition. Occupational Therapy practitioners work with children and their families to achieve greater independence.
